Here are some of the people working hard to take death “out of the closet” so that it’s less scary and overwhelming. Some call what they’re doing the Death Positive Movement, but that’s a bit of a misnomer. It’s not like they are cheerleaders for death or anything. Neither am I.
We all realize how profound and important a Rite of Passage death is. That’s why some of us believe that it’s worth doing a whole lot better. We think it’s worth looking at death squarely in the puss, so that when it shows up in our lives, we are as ready as we can be to handle it.
When it comes to death, ignorance is definitely not bliss, yet so many people act as if death doesn’t even exist. No wonder they’re completely shocked and lost when death shows up. Make it easier on yourself and those you love – spend at least a little time investigating death and what it means to you.
If you need to talk with someone about death and dying, feel free to give me a call: 904.510.3239. I’ll be adding other resources to this list as I go, so check back from time to time.
